Blue Rupture explores what happens when a portrait is interrupted without losing its presence. The figure emerges through deep blues and near-black passages while a vivid yellow gesture cuts across the face, creating a rupture that feels both disruptive and structural.
The painting moves between representation and abstraction: areas of the face remain sharply observed while surrounding forms fragment, dissolve, and reassemble through direct brushwork. Rather than hiding those interruptions, the work uses them to create tension between control and disorder, visibility and loss.
At the center of the painting is the subject’s gaze — steady enough to hold the image together even as the surface around her appears to break apart.
